Save Lives and Safeguard Assets: FLIR Fire Detection@Model.PrimaryHeadlineSize>
EARLY FIRE DETECTION
Detect Fires Early, Avoiding Costly Damage and Loss
Fires that are not caught early can cause serious financial, environmental, and commercial distress for a company, as well as distress to the community.
Most current fire systems are designed to contain a fire once it starts, which is often too late. But using the advantage of non-contact thermal monitoring, automated infrared cameras can pinpoint hot spots and provide live temperature data updates at up to 60 times per second—helping stakeholders make the fast, informed decisions needed to stop devastating fires before they fully ignite.
With the cameras and thermal imaging concept, we can see that there is a hot spot in this pocket so we can go in and mitigate that problem right then and there.

FLIR Fire Detection Systems: Industries and Applications
Biomass Piles
Biomass is at risk for spontaneous combustion as biomaterial is prone to self-heating as it naturally decomposes. Heat generated inside of large biomass piles won’t be able to escape and can suddenly ignite. FLIR thermal imaging cameras can detect a warming-up of material early in the fire development process before forming smoke particles or flames and help prevent fires.
Manufacturing
Proper condition monitoring with continuous thermal cameras can be an efficient and effective way to maintain uptime and prevent costly production stops. Thermal automation cameras detect temperature changes that are early indicators of equipment deterioration, non-uniform temperature profiles on products, and hot spot areas. Detect excessive heat build-up on fuel, hazardous materials, and electrical components before breakdowns occur.
Warehouses
Even though warehouses are equipped with fire alarms and firefighting systems, asset damage is almost inevitable once a fire starts. FLIR thermal imaging cameras provide an early warning response indicating the precise temperature and location of hotspots spots. FLIR cameras can be programmed to set the temperature at which an alarm signal is generated for multiple target spots and even operate in 24/7 “lights out” warehouses due to not needing light to function.
Traffic Incidents
Quickly responding to incidents on roadways and in tunnels is an essential component of any effective traffic management system. FLIR traffic cameras and sensors can reliably detect incidents — including collisions, stopped vehicles, and wrong-way drivers — in challenging lighting and weather conditions. In the event of a tunnel fire, the thermal cameras allow traffic operators to detect hot spots, see through smoke, and alert first responders before the fire can spread.
Wildfire Management
Thermal imaging cameras allow response teams to see directly through the smoke and provide crucial data for both on the ground firefighters and team leaders. Teams equipped with thermal imaging can also more easily catch spot fires that break off and have the potential to reignite another large blaze. By identifying spot fires quickly, ground firefighters can extinguish the hot spot before fire spreads further.
Waste and recycling
Waste is potentially flammable when stored. Self-combustion, heat development due to pressure, spontaneous chemical reactions between disposals and methane gas-building are all potential fire hazards. Thermal imaging cameras can help prevent fires by identifying hot spots with potential to flare up.
